The 2025 UN Climate Change Conference — 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — was convened in Belém, Brazil from 10–21 November 2025.
UNU activities at COP30 were key in supporting communities and countries with the evidence needed to turn climate pledges into climate action through new nationally determined contributions (NDCs) — planned efforts under the Paris Agreement to reduce emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Throughout COP30, UNU institutes and experts organized and participated in events in Belém and online, as well as contributed research commentary and publications.
UNU-CPR
UNU-CPR engagement at COP30 built on its collaboration with Brazilian Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President of COP30. UNU-CPR co-organized an official side event and shared a collection of new papers on climate finance and economic governance.
UNU-EHS & UNU-VIE
From climate finance and frontier technologies to capacity-building and inclusive cities, UNU-EHS expertise cut across many of COP30’s most urgent themes. UNU-VIE also led the Capacity-building Academy at the 7th Capacity-building Hub.
