Flannery Johnson is a Research Associate for water in the context of the water-energy-food nexus and climate actions at UNU-VIE.
Flannery holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Sustainability from Michigan State University and a master's degree in Integrated Water Resources Management from the Institute of Technology in the Tropics and Subtropics at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne where she was a Rotary Global Scholar. Her thesis research explored the integration of the water-energy-food nexus for climate change adaptation in Sudan.
Prior to joining UNU, Flannery gained experience as a water and climate change researcher at FAO where she focused on climate-adaptive water management practices in agricultural systems as well as within the global project 'Water and Energy for Food' at GIZ. Her research focuses on operationalizing the water-energy-food nexus, sustainable water management for climate adaptation, and climate-smart agriculture, particularly in areas of high climate risk.
