She has been a full professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra since 2003 and a permanent researcher at the Center for Social Studies of that faculty since 1979. She served as the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization in the XXI Constitutional Government of Portugal.
