This theoretical and practical course focuses on cutting-edge proteomic technology, a relevant topic in current biotechnological and biomedical research.
The course aims to train graduate students, young scientists, and specialized technicians in mass spectrometry-based proteomics and its applications. Students will gain experience in all the steps of the proteomics workflow, from sample preparation to interpretation of the results.
Particular emphasis will be placed on freely available bioinformatics tools for quantitative proteomic analysis. During the course, students will have the opportunity to discuss their projects with world leaders in the proteomics field through debate sessions and posters.
The Analytical Biochemistry and Proteomics Unit of the Institut Pasteur de Montevideo and IIBCE has organized international courses focused on proteomics since 2010. This course will be the fourth edition of “Proteome Analysis by Mass Spectrometry.”
The course also seeks to contribute to developing a network of scientists interested in mass spectrometry-based proteomics within the LAC region.
The academic objectives will be achieved through theoretical lectures covering the basics of mass spectrometry-based proteomics and practical work in the wet and computer labs to analyze and interpret the data obtained during the course under the supervision of local technical personnel.
The course will strengthen scientific collaboration through poster sessions, where students will present their work. In addition, the course will be organized to maximize exchange opportunities between teachers and students.
