Advancing Palestine’s Inclusion in the EGDI

UNU-EGOV supported Palestine’s bid to join the 2026 EGDI survey.

In light of his commitment to support Palestine’s participation in the UN E-Government Development Index (EGDI) survey—previously excluded due to its observer status - Saleem Zoughbi took the initiative to advance the issue.

He engaged with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Telecommunications to formally request Palestine's inclusion in the 2026 EGDI survey, reaching out to UNDESA at the highest level. As part of this effort, he also led an online training session in early 2024 for technical professionals from multiple ministries, providing guidance on data analysis and development planning to strengthen their readiness for future assessment.
