This dissertation investigates the extended effects of international scientific mobility in two middle-income countries: Brazil and Colombia. Grounded on the Economics of Science literature, this dissertation consists of quantitative and qualitative studies aimed at investigating the effects of mobility on non-mobile scientists’ foreign social capital, performance, and novel knowledge exploration and production.
