The satoyama and satoumi of Noto Peninsula are a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS). Built on traditional knowledge and maintained by local communities, they are landscapes and seascapes where humans and nature coexist in harmony, sustaining livelihoods and preserving biodiversity.

The event will feature guest speakers Masako Torii, a traditional soy sauce producer, and Kiyohiro Inaba from an agricultural association Noto Yamabiko, who will discuss sustainable food production and initiatives that support local communities. Yuki Hagino from the Nogashi Research Institute will discuss how to sustainably utilize the resources of satoyama and satoumi and prepare for disasters.

Following the event, attendees are invited to visit the UNU Farmers Market, which will feature products from Noto Peninsula.
