The LDN4NAP project is funded by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and will develop a supplement to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) National Adaptation Plan (NAP) technical guidelines on promoting synergy between efforts addressing Desertification, Land Degradation and Drought (DLDD), the achievement of Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) and the process to formulate and implement NAPs under the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement and processes.

Based on a literature review and stakeholder engagement, the LDN4NAP project will:

#1: Analyze the coherence between the scientific conceptual framework for LDN and NAP processes incl. synergies and trade-offs between Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and LDN;

#2: The identification of pathways to integrate LDN into the NAP processes and of supporting case studies/tools;

#3: Validate identified pathwayswith a Focus Group Discussion to guarantee the applicability of the supplement.

The supplement will contribute to building synergistic effects between LDN planning and implementation and national adaptation planning and implementation. In this way, it is envisaged that countries will be inspired, motivated, and enabled to assess their vulnerabilities to DLDD and climate change, mainstream DLDD and climate change risks, and address adaptation in this context.
