This open-access book highlights challenges and opportunities for promoting more sustainable businesses while safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystems. The book draws on 12 case studies from areas where production activities help maintain biodiversity while sustainably supporting the livelihoods and well-being of local communities.
The case studies exemplify innovative solutions to facilitate more sustainable business decisions and actions for socially and ecologically sound outcomes”, said co-editor Maiko Nishi (Research Fellow, UNU-IAS). “The publication adds to the growing momentum in business and finance to commit to halting biodiversity loss and delivering nature-positive solutions.
The book is part of the Satoyama Initiative Thematic Review series, which shares case studies from members of the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI). IPSI is a partnership comprising more than 300 member organizations dedicated to realizing societies in harmony with nature. UNU-IAS hosts the secretariat of IPSI, providing a unique global platform for exchanging views and experiences between these organizations and fostering synergies in the implementation of their respective activities.
