On 18 February 2025, the Second AEON SATOYAMA Forum will be held to discuss traditional Japanese landscapes known as satoyama, where people and nature have coexisted for generations through harmonious interactions between human activities and the environment, fostering sustainable practices in agriculture, forestry and fisheries.
The event will share perspectives of various stakeholders, including universities and local governments that have collaborated with the AEON Environmental Foundation — a member of the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI), whose secretariat is hosted by UNU-IAS. Since 2013, the foundation has worked to create forests that promote living in harmony with nature in Aya Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.
