Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University; Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered a lecture on 3 July as part of the ongoing UNU Rector AI Lecture Series. The lecture, titled “AI Insights for a Sustainable Future,” provided in-depth reflections on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in addressing global development challenges.
Speaking to a global audience, Professor Marwala examined the intersection of AI, ethics, policy, and sustainable development. He emphasized the critical need to ensure that AI technologies are developed and deployed in ways that are inclusive, equitable, and aligned with the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
