The Partnership Sets a Framework for Joint Research, Networks, and Training in AI for Sustainability.

The United Nations University Institute in Macau (UNU Macau) and the Macao International Carbon Emission Exchange (MEX) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the 2nd Global Carbon Credit Market Development Forum, establishing a framework to jointly advance digital innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), climate action, and sustainable development.

The MOU was signed by Dr. Jingbo Huang, Director of UNU Macau, and Meng Meng, General Manager of MEX.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to cooperation guided by sustainable development goals. It expands opportunities for joint research, network building, and talent development, reinforcing UNU Macau’s mission to harness digital technology responsibly for the benefit of society.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate in three interconnected areas. They will pursue joint research and knowledge-sharing on digital innovation and AI to support climate action and evidence-based policymaking. They will also strengthen their networks by joining each other’s collaboration platforms, promoting resource sharing and cross-sector innovation. In addition, they will co-organize events, training programmes, and talent development initiatives to nurture professionals who can bridge digital technology with sustainable development.

Both institutions look forward to deepening this partnership to harness digital technology and AI for climate action, contributing to a more inclusive and equitable future.
