Water and food security in North Africa is shaped by a complex interplay of environmental, climatic, and socio-political challenges. The region’s arid climate, limited water resources, and scarce arable land hinder sustainable agriculture, which is vital for rural livelihoods. Climate change, water scarcity, desertification, and pollution further threaten crop yields, while ongoing conflicts disrupt agricultural activities. Efforts to address these issues include adopting climate-resilient practices, efficient irrigation, and sustainable land management. However, growing resource competition and instability continue to undermine progress, necessitating a holistic approach to enhance resilience, water management, and regional stability.
