UNU-CRIS is pleased to contribute to this important dialogue through its ongoing work at the interface of knowledge systems, policy innovation, and multilateral cooperation. The Institute’s engagement will help frame traditional and Indigenous medicine within broader global efforts such as the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and related multilateral initiatives that advance the climate-biodiversity-land nexus. By connecting local and Indigenous knowledge with international policy processes, UNU-CRIS seeks to support integrated approaches that strengthen planetary health, resilience, and inclusive governance.
UNU-CRIS also brings a strong commitment to aligning this conversation with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to health, climate action, life on land, and partnerships for the goals. Through knowledge mobilisation, comparative research, and policy dialogue, UNU-CRIS will help highlight how traditional medicine and biodiversity stewardship can contribute to equitable and sustainable development pathways, while reinforcing collaboration across sectors, regions, and generations.
