Padmi Ranasinghe is a PhD Fellow at UNU-CRIS
Padmi Ranasinghe is currently pursuing her PhD in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington, USA and is a virtual PhD fellow at UNU-CRIS within the Nature Climate, and Health cluster, working closely together with Nidhi Nagabhatla. During her fellowship she will collaborate in research and projects in the fields of Nature-based solutions, climate change, water management, sustainable urban planning, resilient cities, environmental governance, disaster management and eco-system restoration.
She obtained a MSc degree in Environmental Science at the City University of New York-College of Staten Island (Thesis on Green infrastructure methods for urban stormwater management) and a second master's degree in Regional Development and Planning from the University of Colombo (Thesis on ecological connectivity for mitigate human- animal conflicts).
Padmi is a selected participant in the United Nations University (UNU-IAS), ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme-2022 on “Shifting to Net Zero: Implementation strategies for net-zero transitions”; “United Nations Global Sustainable Solutions Winter School 2022” by the UNU Climate Resilience Initiative; and Climate Academy-2021, “People’s Pathways to Climate Action, Nature-based Solutions and Urban Vulnerability” by the UNU-EHS and UNFCCC. She is also a Young Professional in “Space for Water” at the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs.
