Although gender impacts everyone, its effects are particularly pronounced for women, girls and marginalized groups such as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) individuals. Recognizing this, the international community increasingly emphasizes the need for gender-responsive policies and practices. At UNU-CPR, we are dedicated to promoting gender equality and integrating gender perspectives into our research efforts. This commitment is evident across our three research pillars, where we analyze how gender shapes innovation and multilateralism, as well as global security and development.
The United Nations University (UNU) is equally committed to achieving gender parity at all levels, recognizing it as a critical milestone toward broader gender equality. These efforts align with and contribute to the successful implementation of the UNU Gender Action Plan 2020–2024, the UNU Policy on Gender Equality, and the Secretary-General’s System-wide Strategy on Gender Parity.
