ASEF programme: The AI in Education High-Level Policy Lab — You Are the Minister: What Would You Decide?

MGM MACAU, Salon 1 & 2

Time
- Asia/Macau

DESCRIPTION

What would you do if you had the authority to shape the future of AI in education? How would you balance innovation with ethical responsibility, educational equity, teacher agency and the public good? In this immersive policy simulation, Fellowship Leaders and Fellows step into the roles of education ministers, policymakers, teachers, students and other key stakeholders to navigate complex, real-world dilemmas surrounding AI integration in schools and teacher education. Working in teams, participants will confront competing priorities, negotiate different perspectives and make critical policy decisions on issues such as AI-enabled assessment, data privacy, teacher professional autonomy and equitable access to technology. Rather than seeking a single right answer, the session challenges participants to consider the trade-offs, values and consequences underlying educational policymaking in the age of AI. Each team will present its proposed policy direction, highlighting the rationale, compromises and safeguards informing its decisions. This session hopes to generate a collection of policy propositions and practical insights that can inform the Fellowship’s ongoing dialogue on human-centred use of AI in education.

This is an ASEF programme, with priority for available seats given to ASEF fellows. For more information about the programme, please see here: ASEFNextEd1_Onsite-Conference-Programme-Overview-Draft.pdf
