The UNU Macau AI Conference 2026 will take place on 25–26 November 2026 at MGM MACAU, Macau SAR, China.
Under the theme“AI × Education: AI for Learning, Learning for AI”, this two-day convening brings together the AI Conference 2026, the AI for SDGs – Global Youth AI Future Innovation Competition, and AI × Education Workshops and Training.
Bringing together policymakers, education leaders, researchers, technologists and young innovators, the conference examines two connected dimensions: AI in Education, exploring how intelligent systems are reshaping teaching, learning, assessment and institutional governance; and Education of AI, focusing on the knowledge, skills and ethical understanding that learners, educators and institutions need to engage with AI responsibly.
The programme features 16 thematic sessions, 12 workshops and training sessions, and the competition final with 9 international finalist teams alongside Macao youth teams. With 340 session submissions and more than 300 youth competition proposals from over 70 countries and regions, including strong Global South representation, the conference brings perspectives from different regions, disciplines and sectors together in Macau, reinforcing its role as a bridge for international AI cooperation.

Pillar 1: UNU Macau AI Conference 2026
25 November | Global dialogue
16 thematic sessions will explore generative and agentic AI, accountability, learning and employability, and education in low-resource settings, connecting research, policy and institutional practice.
Pillar 2: AI for SDGs - Global Youth AI Future Innovation Competition 2026
26 November | Youth-led innovation
Initiated by the UNU Global AI Network, the competition will feature nine international finalist teams alongside Macao youth teams, presenting AI solutions to education and sustainable development challenges.
Pillar 3: AI × Education Workshops and Training
26 November | Practical learning
12 workshops and training sessions will focus on AI governance, literacy, critical thinking and educational applications, equipping participants with practical tools and approaches..
Special Event: The Asia-Europe Education Next Fellowship (ASEFNextEd) Conference (23-27 November)
Organised by the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and its partners, the Fellowship brings together approximately 50 invited education leaders, researchers, and teacher educators from across Asia and Europe to explore the theme “Re-thinking Intelligence: The Future of Teacher Education”, examining how artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and sustainability are reshaping teaching, learning, and human agency. The Fellowship will culminate in the co-creation of white papers offering insights and recommendations for the future of teacher education. Fellows will participate in one day of the UNU Macau AI Conference, with opportunities to contribute to selected sessions and engage with the wider AI community.
The Fellowship is organised in partnership with UNU Macau, College of Education for the Future, Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai, the Digital Education Futures Initiative Cambridge, the International Research Centre on Artificial Intelligence under the auspices of UNESCO, the Jožef Stefan Institute, and the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (This special event is for selected Fellows and is not open to general UNU Macau AI Conference participants).
