The UNU Macau 2026 Training for Teachers came to a successful close on 29 April 2026 at the United Nations University Institute in Macau, marking the completion of a pioneering three‑day programme developed in collaboration with Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU).

Over the course of the training, 13 teachers from NPU took part in an immersive learning journey at the intersection of artificial intelligence, digital technology, pedagogy, and sustainable development. The sessions combined expert lectures, hands‑on tool demonstrations, group discussions, and teaching practice sharing, striking a balance between theoretical depth and practical application.
Participants explored a wide range of themes, including the UN System and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), AI ethics and equity, generative and agentic AI for research, large language models for policy simulation, and innovative pedagogical approaches. Beyond academic content, the programme fostered mutual learning and exchange, enabling participants to translate theoretical insights into real‑world classroom practice.

In their concluding reflections, teachers highlighted the value of the comprehensive insights gained and commended UNU Macau experts for their detailed, professional guidance. Many noted that the training would reshape their teaching approaches, equipping them to guide students in using AI tools critically and scientifically — not as a substitute for learning, but as a means to enhance it.
The programme significantly strengthened participants’ digital literacy and AI‑enabled teaching capacity, while laying the groundwork for long‑term collaboration between UNU Macau and NPU. Both sides recognised the training as a highly constructive and successful partnership and expressed strong expectations for further cooperation in the future.
UNU Macau will continue to design targeted training programmes and explore diverse partnerships to advance digital capacity building for sustainable development.
