Investing proactively in land and nature-based solutions can counterbalance the growing costs to the global economy of loss and damage due to droughts. In this Science Talk, Dr. Caroline King-Okumu will explore economic and financial appraisals of investments that work with nature and institutions at different scales to secure resilience. Alongside the business cases accompanying the current growing number of ex-ante Financing Needs Assessments, some ex-post evaluations and progress reports have also been made available through multilateral forums. Ongoing needs and opportunities to improve decision-making at all levels involve strengthening the available tracking systems, evidence bases and guidance for evaluation of the effectiveness of land- and nature-based Solutions.
