On 15 December 2023 UNU-IAS will organize an event to discuss the current capacity gaps and needs for effectively implementing climate action under the Paris Agreement. Convening international experts on climate change and UNU-IAS students, the event will feature a keynote presentation by Hoesung Lee, Former Chair of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)). The discussion will be informed by updates and outcomes of the 2023 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP28) as reported by the UNU-IAS delegation, as well as the recent developments on the UNU-IAS Postgraduate Degree Specialization on the Paris Agreement launched in September 2023. The session will also address ways to advance meaningful youth engagement in policymaking processes on climate change.

Participation

This event will take place in the 1F Annex Space of the UNU HQ Building in Tokyo, Japan. To attend in person, please register in advance. 

Online participation will be possible via Zoom (advance registration required). Please note that simultaneous interpretation will not be available to online participants.
