Naoki Torii is a Programme Coordinator for the Governance for Sustainable Development programme.
He has over 10 years of experience in the field of climate change and sustainable development. Before joining UNU in 2023, he engaged in project management and coordination in various capacities, including as Project Manager at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Programme Manager at Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), and Chief Administrator at Ministry of the Environment, Japan.
His areas of expertise include policy and strategy development, research and analysis, as well as technical and institutional capacity building in the field of climate change and sustainable development in particular to facilitate climate financing and technology transfer.
Naoki holds an MSc in Environment and Development from the University of Edinburgh, U.K., and a BA in Law from Rikkyo University, Japan.
