Sarita works at the intersection of climate finance, disaster risk financing and inclusive insurance, helping to develop solutions that protect vulnerable communities from climate shocks. She is passionate about turning research into practical action that strengthens resilience and sustainable development.

Sarita is a Project Associate at UNU-EHS. In this role, she supports the design and implementation of climate risk finance and insurance solutions aimed at strengthening resilience among vulnerable communities. Her work focuses on climate finance, disaster risk financing and inclusive insurance solutions, as well as conducting research to better understand the need for and impacts of these solutions on post-disaster recovery and long-term resilience.

She has experience supporting climate resilience and sustainable development initiatives through stakeholder coordination, project support and policy engagement related to climate adaptation and risk management. As a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), she is versed in the coordination and implementation of multi-stakeholder development initiatives and cross-sector collaborations from concept through execution. She has a particular interest in projects focused on climate finance, climate risk analytics and insurance-based solutions that strengthen adaptive capacity and support sustainable recovery following disasters.

Sarita holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Leadership and Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development, and a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness Management. Her long-term interests include climate-smart development, disaster risk finance, sustainability analytics and the use of data-driven approaches to strengthen environmental resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
