In a dynamic world, financial institutions face evolving risks, especially during crises like the war in Ukraine, leading to an increased risk of inadvertent involvement through their services in criminal activities such as modern slavery, including human trafficking.

This brief aims to equip institutions with timely risk identification and mitigation measures to address these challenges, drawing attention to the unpreparedness of many institutions during the recent Ukrainian conflict.
