UNU Macau Visits Xi’an Jiaotong University

UNU Macau's first visit to Xi’an Jiaotong University to explore collaborations in digital tech, student internships, and training.

Dr. Huang Jingbo, Director of the United Nations University Institute in Macau (UNU Macau), led a delegation to Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on April 15. She was welcomed by XJTU Vice President Hong Jun, along with representatives from several key departments, including the Innovation Center, School of Artificial Intelligence, and the Jinhe Center.

The meeting focused on exploring potential collaborations, such as establishing a UNU hub at XJTU’s Innovation Port, offering student internships at UNU, and co-developing international training programs. Dr. Huang emphasized UNU Macau’s commitment to research and training in digital technologies and sustainable development, expressing a strong interest in partnering with XJTU on AI, digital economy, and innovation projects.

In the afternoon, Dr. Huang and Dr. Georgina Curto Rex, Senior Researcher and Team Lead at UNU Macau, delivered a lecture on "Global Competence and Career Development in the United Nations System." Dr. Huang shared insights from her 20+ years at the UN, discussing career opportunities, particularly in technology and education. Dr. Curto Rex guided students in exploring AI’s role in sustainable development and encouraged them to consider diverse career paths in this field.

This visit by UNU Macau to XJTU strengthens their growing collaboration and paves the way for deeper academic and research partnerships in the future.
