The summer camp, themed "Agent-Based Modelling for Better Health Policies," aimed to enhance participants' understanding of digital technologies in addressing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program was designed to cultivate young scholars' strategic vision and leadership skills, preparing them for impactful roles in international organizations.

The event commenced with the arrival of delegations from Northwestern Polytechnical University and the School of Software Engineering at Tongji University. The opening ceremony featured remarks by Serge Stinckwich, Head of Research at UNU Macau, and Prof. ZENG Xiangyang, Vice Dean of the School of Marine Science and Technology.

Participants engaged in applied research in computer science, focusing on agent-based modeling techniques. This approach allowed them to simulate complex systems and their interactions, providing valuable insights for policy-making. The program's hands-on sessions included learning to use the NetLogo platform for building and analyzing models, particularly in the context of public health policies.

One of the program's highlights was a field visit to MGM COTAI, where participants learned about SDGs in real-world scenarios. This experience was complemented by role-playing exercises, such as the "Citizen Outbreak Responder" game, which simulated decision-making processes during a pandemic. These activities helped participants understand the practical implications of their research and the importance of involving citizens in policy development.

The camp concluded with project presentations, where participants showcased their research findings to a panel of experts. The projects were evaluated based on their relevance, innovation, and potential impact on sustainable development. Outstanding projects were voted on both by the experts and the audience and received certificates of awards.
