The Director of the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH) and the Mayor of the City of Richmond Hill are pleased to be co-hosting a celebration on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of UNU-INWEH, to be held on Saturday, 31 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This milestone event marks three decades of research, innovative capacity development, and collaborative partnerships dedicated to addressing the world's most pressing water and environmental challenges, with the support of the Government of Canada.
This gathering will bring together government, academic, and community leaders to reflect on the Institute's achievements over the past three decades. Including a ribbon cutting and the launch of a painted mural in the UNU-INWEH boardroom, this celebration will commemorate the work that Richmond Hill and UNU-INWEH have accomplished together. Since its move from Hamilton in April of 2024 UNU-INWEH has called Richmond Hill its home. We look forward to celebrating this occasion with the city.
The event will also mark the opening of the 2nd Conference of UNU Hubs, bringing together leading scientists from UNU Hubs in Calgary, Hamburg, Lund, New York, and Pretoria. Led by UNU-INWEH, the conference will take place on 31 October and 1 November 2026 in Richmond Hill.
