United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health and United Nations Office for Sustainable Development will be organizing a three-day workshop in Dakar, Senegal bringing together more than 17 African Countries to present their work on the effective use of the SDG 6 Policy Support System (SDG-PSS).
Making the right policy decisions in the SDG era can be complicated; requiring organizations from different sectors to assess evidence on different targets and indicators, working together to develop better policies. For this reason, countries need to evaluate their strengths, weaknesses, missing data, gaps, and opportunities if they aim to achieve SDG 6 by 2030. SDG-PSS endeavors to help make this process more effective.
These workshops are supported by a consortium of partners UNU-INWEH; UNOSD; and the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea (MOE). In addition, the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), has been implementing the project ‘Water in the World We Want' to investigate how countries address critical evidence gaps and deliver better policies to achieve SDG 6. Two additional partners joined the project in 2022; UNESCO International Centre for Water Security, and Sustainable Management (UNESCO I-WSSM); and the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water).
