Gender Report on Innovate For Clean Agricultural Technologies Project

A gendered approach to implementing the INFoCAT project, targeted at African women and youth in clean agritech innovation.

The INFoCAT(Innovate for Clean Agricultural Technologies)Gender Report 2025, highlights how the project has embedded gender equity into clean energy and agriculture initiatives across Ghana, Senegal, and Côte D’Ivoire.

It shows deliberate integration of gender-sensitive objectives, diverse team composition, and participatory stakeholder engagement to empower women and youth in rural farming communities.

It highlights early outcomes of the project including stronger policymaker awareness of gendered barriers, new alliances with women-led enterprises, and enhanced research capacity for gender-responsive studies. However, challenges remain—such as limited female representation in agritech expertise, fewer women-owned green businesses, language barriers, and political instability disrupting activities.

In relation to planned interventions : the report shows the INFoCAT's focus on agritech innovation challenges: prioritising women-led solutions, tailored capacity-building for young women, and advocacy for gender-responsive policies.

The report concludes that sustained investment in evidence-based advocacy, financing mechanisms, mentorship, and localised strategies will be critical to achieving transformative gender outcomes in the clean energy–agriculture nexus across Africa.
