Empowering Youth for a Fair and Inclusive Green Transition

Diplomatic Courier published an op-ed by a UNU-IAS expert calling for green skills development for youth in Asia and the Pacific.

On 10 April 2024, Diplomatic Courier, a global affairs media network, published an article co-authored by Mark Akrofi (Postdoctoral Fellow, UNU-IAS) discussing ways to equip youth in the Asia-Pacific with the skills needed to lead the transition to a sustainable future.

As the home of the world’s largest youth population, the Asia–Pacific region will be pivotal to achieving the global transition to a sustainable and inclusive future. Sustainability transitions are happening rapidly, and youth must take center stage in steering these changes. Ensuring that they have the requisite skills not only empowers them but also prepares them for successful careers in the green job market.
