UNU-IAS will co-organize an event at the 6th Capacity-building Hub of the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29). Held on the Rio Conventions Synergies Day as part of the Paris Committee on Capacity-building (PCCB) Academy, the session will explore innovative tools empowering youth to take the lead in addressing complex global issues through synergetic solutions. It will feature youth perspectives on ongoing projects and activities addressing both climate change and biodiversity loss.

Participants will enhance their understanding of challenges and opportunities for addressing synergies by mobilizing higher education and training. They will also identify further capacity building needs and priorities, and consider ways of contextualizing multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs) in their ongoing and planned activities, policy and financing opportunities to expand reach.
