UNU-IAS will co-organise a side event at the March 2022 meetings of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Geneva, Switzerland. This event will examine best practices and case studies of landscape management, focusing on strategies to embed landscape approaches in the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).
Panellists will discuss opportunities for restoring nature, the need for equitable landscape governance, and the application of landscape approaches in other global agendas such as the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The event is organised in partnership with PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency; the Ministry of the Environment, Government of Japan; and the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI).
