Apply Now for the 2026 JSPS–UNU Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2026.

UNU-IAS is now accepting applications for the JSPS–UNU Postdoctoral Fellowship programme, which will commence in September to November 2026. 

Jointly organized by UNU-IAS and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the programme provides promising, highly qualified young scholars with the opportunity to conduct advanced research in sustainability in cooperation with host researchers at Japanese universities and research institutions. Under this programme, fellows conduct research relevant to one of the main thematic areas of UNU-IAS: 

  • Governance for Climate Change & Sustainable Development (GCSD)
  • Biodiversity & Society (BDS)
  • Water & Resource Management (WRM)
  • Innovation & Education (IVE)

The application deadline is 31 January 2026 (23:59 JST).
