This year’s United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)'s Conference of the Parties (COP 17) will take place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from 17 to 28 August. The theme of this year's conference is "Restoring Land. Restoring Hope" and is taking place during the United Nations International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, which are essential to the host country.
This year, UNU-EHS is sending a delegation of experts on various desertification, and land degradation and natural resource management issues. From climate change adaptation, urban climate action and land and water management approaches to ecosystem-based approaches for integrating disaster risk reduction, our expertise cuts across many of COP 17’s most urgent themes.
