Bridging Research and Practice - Workshop in Utrecht

A policy-focused workshop in Utrecht to explore how multi-stakeholder sessions bridge research and practice.

Mariana Lameiras, Senior Research Analyst at UNU-EGOV, led a workshop at the international conference Making a Difference: Societal Impact through Collaborative Research in Utrecht, The Netherlands. It was organized by the University of Utrecht’s Data School and explored how academic research influences societal change. The conference ran from 7 to 8 April.

The workshop titled “Bridging Research and Practice: The Role of Multiple-Stakeholder Workshops for Evidence-based Policy”, was co-developed by Lameiras alongside researchers Noella Edelmann and Lucille Tetley-Brown. It examined how participatory workshops serve as valuable tools for collecting evidence that informs inclusive and practical policymaking. The attendees had backgrounds from both academia and public service.

The workshop aligns with UNU-EGOV’s mission to bring research closer to the people it serves, by supporting policymakers to co-create solutions based on "real-world" topics.
