Turning over Europe-Africa Relations in the Sahellian Region
This is a joint project between UNU-CRIS and University of Urbino Carlo Bo.
The research project is developed within a framework comprising three main papers, which aim to analyse, through approaches to International Relations that are less traditional and conventional, the relations between Africa and the European Union, making use of the specific case study of the Sahelian context. Consequently, the first article represents the actual theoretical discussion underpinning the work, examining in depth the role played by Postcolonial Studies within International Relations, taking the Sahelian context as an example. The same region is employed as a framework to address, in the second article, the concrete interregional dialogues between local and international actors, by studying the different expressions of an increasingly crisis-ridden interregionalism. Finally, within the third article, considerable attention will be devoted to one of the most important and interesting regional actors mentioned above, namely the African Union, with the aim of outlining its role and challenges within the complex Sahelian geopolitical landscape.
