This session will convene senior experts from across the United Nations system to explore how digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and Earth intelligence are advancing climate resilience and accelerating implementation of the 2030 Agenda in global climate extreme settings. It will also introduce a new framework for assessing climate extreme technology readiness developed by researchers at Imperial College London via an interactive hands-on workshop.

Designed to foster dialogue at the science–policy interface, the session will combine strategic perspectives with expert insights in line with the UN STI Forum 2026 theme “Transformative, equitable and coordinated science, technology and innovation for the 2030 Agenda and a sustainable future for all” and the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2026 focus on UN SDGs 9 and 17.

We warmly invite participation from Member States, UN entities, international organisations, academia, industry leaders and practitioners engaged in digital innovation, AI and Earth intelligence in global climate-extreme and climate-vulnerable settings.

Event leads: Imperial College London, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), United Nations University Institute on Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) and WMO-ISC-UNESCO World Climate Research Program (WCRP).

Event endorsed by UNESCO International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033).
