Miquela was a Communications Intern at UNU-CRIS.

During her communication internship at UNU-CRIS, Miquela worked under the supervision of Andrew Dunn, the Policy and Communications Officer. Miquela’s core responsibilities included copyediting and disseminating research output. Her internship was supported by the Flanders Trainee Programme.

Miquela is a recent graduate of Ghent University, where she earned her LL.M. in International and European Law with a specialization in International and Human Rights Law. She also holds a Juris Doctor from UC Law San Francisco and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Economy with a minor in Journalism from UC Berkeley.

Professionally, Miquela has served as a Research Fellow for the Center on Race, Immigration, Citizenship, and Equality (RICE), where she contributed to academic research, writing, and event coordination. Her research interests include international human rights law, global migration systems, structural inequality, and the ways legal frameworks shape public institutions and governance.

Miquela was delighted to join UNU-CRIS, where she built on her experience in research communication, editorial work, and policy outreach while engaging with a diverse global research and policy community.
