The 80th anniversary of the United Nations presents an opportunity to reflect on the evolution of multilateralism and how it can be reshaped to better meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. UNU-CPR is contributing to this effort by generating research and policy insights that support more effective and inclusive international cooperation. Our work engages directly with ongoing UN processes, including the Pact for the Future and broader UN80 reflections, and builds on our contributions to the High-Level Advisory Board on Effective Multilateralism. We are examining how global institutions can be redesigned to respond to deepening inequalities and shifting geopolitical dynamics, and accelerate progress on sustainable development. This includes rethinking how peace is built in complex environments, how resources are mobilized and aligned with long-term goals, and how emerging technologies are governed in ways that serve the global public good. Through this work, UNU-CPR aims to inform and support Member States and UN entities engaged in shaping the future of the international system.
