Extension of Open Call deadline and important announcement for applicants

Announcement Regarding the 2025 Call for Proposals for Academic Activities: Extension of deadline and suspension of the September Open Call

The United Nations University Biotechnology Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNU-BIOLAC) informs all associates, particularly those intending to submit proposals for the funding of academic activities scheduled for the year 2026, of a modification to the current call for proposals.

Please be advised that the submission deadline for the ongoing open call has been extended from April 30th to May 30th, 2025. Furthermore, it is important to note that this will constitute the sole open call for the present year.

Traditionally, UNU-BIOLAC has conducted two open calls annually, typically in March and September. However, prevailing economic uncertainties have necessitated an adjustment to our operational procedures. Consequently, a strategic decision has been made to suspend the September open call and extend the deadline for the current solicitation. This measure has been implemented to ensure UNU-BIOLAC's continued capacity to effectively meet the expectations of our fellows and course coordinators during these challenging economic circumstances.

We encourage all interested parties to take note of this revised schedule and submit their proposals by the revised deadline of May 30th, 2025.
