We are glad to announce the “Making Metabolomics Matter: Targeted Approaches for Translational and Precision Medicine” course. This activity is coordinated by Dr Yamilé López Hernández, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Facultad de Quimica (UNAM), from July 22nd to 26th, 2024.
The students will learn about innovative biotechnologist product development and how it could be more accessible and useful for practical applications in human health. In this theoretical and practical course, the participants will be able to gain experience in novel quantitative methods for measuring up to 1300 metabolites circulating in the blood. The participants will learn fundamental concepts and practical guidelines for conducting these methods in their laboratories, universities, or institutions. The impact of personalized medicine will be demonstrated through practical sessions. It will be an exceptional opportunity to join efforts, exchange ideas, and meet with global metabolomics leaders. As in the first edition, it will undoubtedly be a great occasion for new collaborations involving researchers from different countries.
The course is structured with theoretical sessions to discuss fundamental concepts and applications of quantitative metabolomics methods in personalized medicine. Theoretical sessions will cover an extensive background about metabolomics, applications, and the epidemiological context in Mexico and Latin American countries, the challenges, the new recent discoveries, and how personalized medicine could have a positive impact on the public health as well as regulatory policies to be considered for the successful implementation.
