Iván Camilo Velásquez Abril is a PhD scholar at UNU-MERIT. He holds a Research Master’s in Economics from Université Catholique de Louvain and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance & International Trade from Universidad del Rosario in Colombia. He has over five years of experience in public policy evaluation and research, and his main research interest is the economics of education.
Iván Camilo Velásquez Abril has more than five years of experience in public policy evaluation and applied research. He has worked as a consultant for the World Bank and in public institutions in Colombia and Latin America, contributing to projects related to early childhood development, school feeding programs, education policies, and the strengthening of information systems. His work has combined quantitative analysis, qualitative approaches, and the design of evaluation methodologies to generate evidence for policy improvement.
In addition to his policy work, he has academic experience as a professional researcher at Universidad del Rosario and as a teaching assistant professor of econometrics in the Master’s in Applied Economics at Universidad de los Andes.
His research interests focus on the economics of education, development economics, and public policy evaluation.
