Isabel Izek is a dual career PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT with over ten years of experience in global health technology innovation.
Isabel Izek is a product leader with over ten years of international experience in health technology innovation. She has worked across the value chain from academic research to commercialization with organizations including Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, bioMérieux, and most recently Global Health Labs in Seattle, WA, where she led the inclusive co-development of locally driven solutions across Latin America, Asia, and Africa. At UNU-MERIT, her research explores how the health technology sector can drive sustainable economic growth in low- and middle-income countries by advancing Sustainable Development Goals related to health, innovation, decent work, and reduced inequalities. Isabel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s in Health Policy and Health Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
