Francesco Sambrotta is a PhD Fellow at UNU-MERIT, with previous experience in economic research at the Bank of Italy and as a Research Assistant in development economics.
After completing a bachelor's degree, he obtained a master's degree in Economics at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan), graduating with highest honors. His master's thesis examined the impact of climate shocks on agricultural productivity and economic development. During his master's studies, he worked as a Research Assistant in development economics in collaboration with LEAP at Bocconi University. Before joining UNU-MERIT, he worked as a Graduate Trainee at the Bank of Italy, contributing to research on migration, demographic change, and regional economic development.
His research interests focus on development economics, climate change, migration, and their implications for inequality and economic development.
