Katrin Marchand is a researcher at UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University.
Her main research interests are in migration and development, specifically issues related to labour migration and diaspora engagement. She holds a PhD from Maastricht University, a MSc in Public Policy and Human Development (MPP) from the Maastricht Graduate School of Governance and a Diplom in Economics from the University of Trier. Since 2010, she has been working as a researcher on a variety of projects in the field of migration using both quantitative and qualitative methods. Among these were evaluations of programmes and policies, migration profiles and mappings as well as extensive literature reviews. She has worked with a range of international organizations and development agencies including, for example, GIZ,ILO, IOM, ICMPD, SDC, UNDP and UNHCR. She is also regularly engaged in capacity development activities, including Master’s education, executive education and online courses. In addition, Katrin is currently the Head of the Board of Admissions of the MPP and the Vice-Director for Student Onboarding at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University.
