The United Nations University Institute in Macau took part in a historic moment to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+25 Review from November 27-29, 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. Don Rodney Junio and Tarinee Youkhaw held a side event and exhibition at United Nations ESCAP.

in Asia-Pacific to draw attention to the pressing issue of gender digital divides in Asia-Pacific and provide evidence-based strategies to close the gap in ICT and ensure gender inclusion in the digital society.

 

Gender digital divides in Asia-Pacific

The side event brought together a diverse group of people from various industries including academia, government, UN organizations, CSO and the private sector to discuss the implications of persistent gaps in digital access, skills and leadership. In embracing the synergy of perspectives, we hope to extend a multi-stakeholder approach to advance the Beijing Platform for Action and the Sustainable Development Goals.
