In celebration of the United Nations' 80th Anniversary (#UN80) and the United Nations University’s 50th Anniversary (#UNUat50), the UNU Macau AI & Education Day is set to take place on October 25, 2025. This event underscores the transformative role that artificial intelligence (AI) plays in shaping the future of education, research, and social innovation.

As AI continues to revolutionize various sectors, its potential to reshape education and empower future generations is profound. By focusing on the critical intersection of AI, education, and social innovation, this event will provide a platform for diverse discussions that inspire global collaboration, spark innovation, and equip youth with the tools needed to address the challenges of tomorrow. 

Agenda

Highlights of the Event:

1. AI and Social Innovation Competition: 
The competition will showcase not only global projects addressing critical challenges related to AI and social innovation but also feature a special Prize awarded to a youth-led project from Macau, celebrating the contributions of local talent to global solutions.

2. AI Education for Macau’s Youth: 
The event will provide tailored AI education for youth in Macau, ranging from primary school students to high school and university students, empowering the next generation with the skills and knowledge to engage with AI in educational, social, and professional contexts.

3. Training with Forum Macao: 
A specialized training session will be conducted for government officials and representatives from Portuguese-speaking countries invited by Forum Macao.

4. Workshop on AI and Tourism for the Gaming Industry in Macau: 
A unique workshop will be held for the gaming industry representatives in Macau, exploring the transformative role of AI in enhancing both industries and sustainable development.

Join Us at the Event:

1. High-level Plenary Session Chaired by UNU Rector: The plenary session will feature keynote speeches from distinguished leaders, including Professor Tshilidzi Marwala, Rector of the United Nations University (UNU) and UN Under-Secretary-General, senior government officials, alongside additional invited speakers from UNU Macau's international and local partners. The session will include a panel discussion on AI and Education, bringing together university presidents and education leaders to explore how AI can reshape education systems worldwide.

2. AI and Social Innovation Competition Final Round: This competition will showcase the most innovative projects at the intersection of AI and social innovation under the theme AI for the Environment: Ecological Environment and Green Transition Challenges. The finalists will present their solutions that aim to tackle critical global challenges related to climate change and the green transition. A special UNU Macau Prize will be awarded to a youth-led project from Macau, recognizing the contributions of local talent to social innovation.

3. Model UN Event: This engaging event will see students and young professionals participate in a Model United Nations (MUN), where they will represent various countries and address pressing global issues related to AI, education, and social innovation. 

4. AI and SDG Games for Youth: In this interactive session, young participants will explore the role of AI in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through engaging games. The event will also feature a creative element where children can express their understanding of the SDGs through drawings, fostering creativity alongside learning.

5. Masterclasses for AI and SDGs: These focused sessions given by keynote experts from the UNU Macau AI Conference will explore advanced topics such as AI for Good and AI for Sustainable Development Goals. These Masterclasses will address the social, ethical, and developmental impact of AI, with a particular focus on Macau and the Greater Bay Area.

6. Training for Forum Macao: A specialized training session will be conducted for Forum Macao members. This collaborative platform for knowledge sharing and policy development will provide participants with insights on integrating AI into regional policy frameworks and innovation strategies for the Portuguese-speaking countries.
