Dr. Hossein Tabari is a hydrologist with expertise in developing hybrid models that leverage his knowledge of physical processes, statistical models, computational statistics, and data-driven learning tools to advance the understanding of regional-to-global climatic and socioeconomic drivers, space-time variability, and the impacts of extreme events under uncertainty.
In his capacity as the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Lead at UNU-INWEH, Dr. Tabari spearheads an innovative research and training initiative on subjects such as climate change impact assessments, climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies as well as socioeconomic vulnerability and risk analysis of extreme events (flood, drought, and cascade/compound events).
Dr. Tabari is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Applied Engineering at the University of Antwerp. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles with several highly cited articles and has received several awards and prizes for his research including honors from entities such as Allianz Reinsurance and the King Boudewijn Foundation.
