UNU-IIGH's Podcast: The Climate and Health Podcast Series

UNU-IIGH's podcast series exploring how climate and health intersect and why justice must be central to both.

The Climate and Health Podcast is a new series from the UNU International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH), hosted by Remco van de Pas, Policy Research Lead of the work package Climate Justice and Health. Over the next half year, the series will air monthly episodes exploring how the climate crisis and global health are interconnected, and why justice must be at the heart of both.

At UNU-IIGH, we approach climate and health in a comprehensive way, examining how structural, social, economic, and environmental inequalities shape the wellbeing of people and the planet. Climate justice and health justice are deeply intertwined: addressing climate change and its health impacts requires tackling the root causes of inequity, ensuring inclusive participation, and advancing fair and sustainable solutions. This involves envisioning a great transformation, one that secures human rights, strengthens essential foundations such as food, health, and education, and restores ecosystems within planetary boundaries.

Throughout the series, Remco will be joined by academics, activists, policymakers, and health professionals to discuss both the systemic challenges and the opportunities for transformation. Each episode will not only unpack the issues but also highlight practical pathways for change.
