IPCC Chair Visits UNU-IAS

Houseng Lee, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, visits UNU-IAS to discuss climate change and sustainable development.

On 21 December 2022, Houseng Lee, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), visited UNU-IAS to discuss the latest science knowledge on climate change and sustainable development, and the role of UNU-IAS in enhancing the evidence base at the global level.

During the meeting, Shinobu Yume Yamaguchi (Director, UNU-IAS) reported on the significant role of the IPCC assessment reports in the education sector. Akio Takemoto (Programme Head, UNU-IAS) and Maheshti Okitasari (Consultant, UNU-IAS) outlined UNU-IAS contributions to advancing the knowledge on synergies between climate action and the SDGs. They highlighted UNU-IAS capacity building and education programmes, including the new postgraduate degree specialisation on the Paris Agreement to be launched in 2023.
